A persistent identifier for research projects
RAiD is a unique and persistent digital identifier for Research projects which stores in its metadata envelope the PIDs of related research entities it encounters (Orcids for people, DOIs for data and publications, handles for instruments and RORs for institutions).
The ARDC’s RAiD service facilitates the minting of RAiDs for research activity and assists in the integration of the ARDC RAiD API into research platforms.
The RAiD Service
- Is a free service and may be used by any organisation, lab, institution or similar
- Must be integrated for m2m minting with a platform designated by a RAiD Service Point. Service Points must agree to the Terms and Conditions contained in the RAiD user agreement
- May be used to assign RAiDs to any research project or activity as desired
- Facilitates the linking of research activities to research inputs and outputs such as data, publications and people.
Ways of using the service
The ARDC’s RAiD service web interface is intended for users expecting to mint only a very small number of RAiDs, or as an interim arrangement while a machine-to-machine service is established using the API.
The manual minting service can only mint a single identifier at a time. Bulk minting is currently not supported.
The ARDC’s RAiD service API enables the creation of RAiDs via a machine-to-machine connection. The API is intended to be integrated with research management software or other applications and workflows.
